Dinosaur Facts and Learning Goals for This Class

  • Learn about the Archaeopteryx, the evolutionary link between dinosaurs and birds

  • Analyze fossils to discover that birds are the evolutionary descendants of dinosaurs by identifying common bone structure in the wishbone 

  • Practice using fossils to determine what an extinct animal may have looked like

  • Learn about the Theory of Evolution

Dinosaur Activities for Kids

In this class, kids will participate in a bunch of fun learning activities, including:

  • Guess the Cretaceous Dinosaur: Match a fossil with a depiction of the dinosaur the bones belong to.

  • Make a picture from a fossil: Draw a picture of a dinosaur based on your analysis of its fossils. What did it look like? What do you think it ate? What about its bones tells you this?

  • Find the wishbone - Identify the wishbone in different animals’ fossils to figure out which ones are evolutionarily related.
